Who we are

Nanøu – Salerno

The original Italian-French cuisine

Nanøu was born from a special meeting — that between Paola, a woman from Salerno who loves cooking, and Chester, originally from France and passionate about the art of hospitality. Two cultures, two culinary traditions, two hearts that meet against the backdrop of the Mediterranean and give life to a shared dream: opening a restaurant that combines French elegance with Italian passion.

The name Nanøu contains the essence of this fusion: it is a sweet Neapolitan nickname used for her grandmother, and at the same time a French given name — Chester’s sister’s name. An emotional bond, a bridge between family histories and distant flavours that come together in a single culinary experience.

Nanøu is not just a restaurant: it is a journey between two worlds, a tribute to roots and to the love for good food.

They talk about us...

Below is an excerpt from the interview given to Irno24 and the Corriere di Salerno.

"We chose to return to Campania investing in our land to bring to Salerno a new concept: a youthful, international, and different place, where the flavours, styles, and atmospheres of the two most renowned cuisines in the world, Italian and French, merge."

"What inspired you to merge the two culinary traditions? Is there a signature dish that tells the story of this union?"
"Salerno is definitely a city tied to tradition, but I have always seen it also as a very open city, with a strong culture and predisposed to change. We wanted to merge the two traditions to bring a bit of freshness, innovation, and youthfulness to the cuisine. A dish that represents us a lot is the Magret d'Anatra: tender seared duck, served with lively cabbage, roasted carrots, and a parsley-infused sauce. It is a true celebration of fusion cuisine, deeply rooted in the territory."
